Celebration of World Press Freedom Day at UNESCO Beirut

UNESCO Beirut office, through its communication and Information programme, Maharat Foundation and in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre, is organizing a one day conference under this year’s theme “Free to speak: Securing Freedom of Expression in All Media”.

The conference will be a participatory discussions between government bodies (civil & Army), media institutes, media professionals and universities’ students. It will tackle topics related to Press freedom, safety of journalists, combating impunity, online safety and others. We will be looking at those topics from both normal situations, conflict and post conflict and how different laws might govern different situations or periods.

The speakers are press freedom activists, media professionals, judges and civil society activists as well as government officials.

The event will take place on the 8th of May 2013 at UNESCO Beirut office from 9:00AM till 3:00PM.
